Mattia Pivato is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Center for Lagoon Hydrodynamics and Morphodynamics (CIMoLa), University of Padova. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Hydraulic Engineering in 2011 and 2014, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences in 2018 from the University of Padova. In 2016 and 2017, he has been a visiting scientist at the Department of Environmental Science, University of Virginia, and at the Department Department of Environmental Science, Policy, Management, University of California, Berkeley. In 2018, he held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Dept. of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Padova.

Mattia aims to develop a multidisciplinary approach in order to investigate and understand the eco-bio-morphodynamics of coastal water environments. His research focuses on the water temperature dynamics in shallow water environments, water temperature being a crucial factor driving many ecological and biological processes affecting the ecosystems evolution.

He is also interested in understanding and describing the mechanisms driving the loss of salt marshes and the bio-stabilization provided by vegetation, micro- and macro-algae.
